Knapp is ready for a wake-up call
The west central Wisconsin village of Knapp has 125 years under its belt, but with only 400 Plus residents, it's hardly too big for its britches.
When Knapp will grow is a better question than if it will grow because, quite frankly, it's too good of a secret to be kept much longer.
Located in western Dunn County, Knapp is in the diminishing corridor just west of the Chippewa Valley (Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Menomonie) and just east of ongoing Twin Cities outgrowth.
It takes just an hour from Knapp to catch a plane at the Minneapolis airport or to shop at the Mall of America. It takes anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to reach UW-Stout (Menomonie),UW-River Falls, or UW-Eau Claire.
The village itself has its own elementary school and is part of the Menomonie school district. But living anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes outside of Knapp you have your pick of the Boyceville, Glenwood City, Spring Valley, Elmwood and Baldwin-Woodville school districts as well.
Armed with two TID (tax incremental district) districts, an able and willing area workforce and room to grow, there is no reason why an enterprising person/business can't find success in Knapp.
Whether your business be service-based, production-based or retail, Dotseth Trucking, Vets Plus and Knapp Mobile Homes, respectively, offer time-honored testimony that businesses can thrive in Knapp.
The production and efficiency records set at the nearby Walmart Distribution Center in Menomonie attest to the ability of the area work force.
A great sense of community already exists in Knapp. The 45-year-old Lions Club has doubled its membership in the last five years. They, along with Knapp Valley Riders Snowmobile Club, throw a 4th of July celebration that attracts thousands each year.
The real charm of Knapp, however, is in its natural scenic beauty. The village lies in a valley flanking Highway 12, 2 ½ miles north of I-94 (yes, we have our own interstate exit). Large wooded hillsides surround Knapp to the north, south and west. Wildlife such as deer, raccoons and wild turkeys are frequent visitors to backyards of Main Street residents.
The centerpiece of this entire natural splendor is a man-made lighted pond around which the village park is built. It's beautiful!
But frankly, our pond could use a few more big fish. If you are a big fish.... or would like to become one in our small pond, Knapp is more ready than ever to help you grow.
